My writing helps me work through challenges in a constructive way.

Most of my writing is about organisation development, ways of working and change. I am fascinated by how we make better connections with each other across complex systems and how fundamental human skills such as listening and empathy can contribute to these connections.

Writing helps me to slow down and reflect on my assumptions and challenge my own thinking. You can find all my writing on Medium. I’ve included a few of my more popular posts here.

We need to reimagine oursleves if we want to deliver reimagined public services

Changing how we work is dependent on releasing the potential of our people and ensuring they feel valued and purposeful. I look at a number of ways we can begin to make that happen, including a move towards a more networked developmental progression.

Care and maintenance are your most productive work

Listening will help us make intelligent decisions

To have “intelligent” teams, we need to listen to a range of people with different perspectives and outlooks. There are a lot of reasons why this does not happen (including dominant leaders, echo chambers, and a lack of psychological safety) but recognising and trying to manage unconscious bias is a good place to start. It is something we can begin to impact that feels manageable and helpful.
